How Big is Your Metrology?

Our thin-film metrology tools are used for measurements in microns and nanometers. And for measurements taken at about 1000 degrees Celsius. It’s highly specialized work that brings together physicists, engineers, and production experts under one roof. We love it.

But it’s also fun building really, really big industrial metrology tools, like the one here (above and below). And packing them inside really, really big crates.

What’s your measurement challenge?

Insight Into Your Chamber

With kSA Insight Plus, you can view your wafers directly on your computer screen, in real time. But what if you have a crowded chamber?

No problem. With our in-house 3D print lab, we can print you a custom mount, flange, or other fixture to ensure optimum placement. For example, we 3D printed a mount for this kSA Insight camera, and now it rests snugly inside an AJA Orion sputtering system.

Helping Students Create Better Glass

Each year, students in the University of Michigan Materials Science program design a capstone project with a partner in the industry. This year, k-Space helped the students with their “Automated Visual Inspection of Tempered Amorphous Glass Substrates” project.

With guidance from k-Space engineers, the students modified our Glass Breakage and Defect Detection tool to test if they could use the birefringence effect to create a novel tempered glass detection system.

If You Give a Physicist a Solar Panel

Pardon our dust. Our team is working on a new and significantly better way to test glass and solar panels for sheet resistance (sheet RHO) and spectral reflectance. In this case, they are developing an in-line, non-contact solution designed for high-volume production environments.

k-Space at NAMBE 2025

Heading to  NAMBE 2025? We will have several of our thin-film metrology tools on-site, along with engineers ready to answer all your metrology questions.

We make it a point to bring our metrology tools to the many conferences we participate in. This lets you see them in action, ask questions, and look inside. At last month’s ICMCTF, our kSA MOS UltraScan proved a big hit. UltraScan is an ex situ solution that uses a laser array to map the two-dimensional curvature, wafer bow, and stress of semiconductor wafers.

RHEED Screen Summer Sale

k-Space has a surplus of RHEED screens. That’s good news for you — through the end of August, take 25% off the price of our RHEED screens. You can also take 25% off the list price of all our RHEED screen holders and beam alignment substrates while supplies last. Orders can be shipped within 1 business day.

RHEED Image Library Contest Extended!

Ready to win great prizes and support research in your field? It’s easy, thanks to the k-Space RHEED Image Library contest.

Simply upload your RHEED images (or movies) to our Dropbox folder. Ten lucky users, chosen at random, will receive a 30 ounce stainless steel Yeti mug. The user who uploads the most RHEED images will receive a DJI Mini Drone.

Get the full contest details here

UPDATE: Contest extended to September 26.

Please help us to make the kSA 400 an even more powerful analytical RHEED system by expanding our RHEED Image Library with more RHEED images and movies!
